While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.

Kedirr’s Log – Commission 26

Finally got another commission today, even if it is just a message run.
Caulder says he hasn’t got anything else, and no-one else does. Hell, even if it’s for piss money, at least I’ll be able to eat for another week. Once I deliver the package to Anderscrest. Should be able to make it in two days.

Doubt I’ll be able to get another meal in this chamberpot town anyway, so I may as well leave right now. At least the roads should be clear, I’m going to be in a bad mood if I have to fight my way through.

Day and a half down the track I come upon something unexpected. Dead humans on the road never bodes well. At the very least it leads to awkward questions. Stupid officials never seem to believe I had nothing to do with it. Even when it’s obvious that the corpses were sliced up, and I carry a hammer.

My usual instinct is to hurry on, with the officials and all, but this time there was something happening further on. Bunch of goons fighting over a tied up girl. Tied up girl? Usually a kidnapping of somesort. And a kidnapping? That means reward, and food on the table. Any table, really.

So, I take a quick look around the field. Three gnomes, facing off against a halfling, two humans and an elf. Strange group, one of the humans was pink, and the elf had strange eyes. Four to three, seems like someone has an advantage. Gnomes though, crafty little buggers, quick on their feet and altogether too good with knives. Not to mention the fact that these ones were popping in an out of visibility like bloody Will ’O the Wisps. Seems like the others were bleeding more than the gnomes were.

I figured I had two options, keep going to Anderscrest and get a handful of silver for delivering this package to “The Undersecretary of Lord Eric Anderson and a whole other lot of hot air”, or I can step in an probably get a much jucier slice of the reward. Not really a choice, is it?

So I charge right in and put the fear of Shar-Iss into the bloody little things. My thinking here? Help the weak ones. That way, once the stronger squad is beaten, it’s that much easier to make sure I get my rightful part of the takings. Seems I made the right choice. Some overgrown red lizard appeared out of nowhere and carried off the halfling, with the strange elf hard on its tail. My job just got that much easier.

Seemed like a day for appearances though. No sooner had I smacked one of the gnomes around a little before another weird elf was spat out on the ground in the middle of everything. This one seemed to be a magical sort, saying something about the girl and blasting one of the gnomes, so that’s decent enough. The others helped a little, but really they didn’t seem to know which end of their weapons was which.

I guess that elf’s warning was accurate enough, not that anyone listened to it. I was still trying to take care of the gnomes when the humans went after the girl. Should’ve expected it really. They got theirs though, the girl exploded right in their faces. I threatened the gnome, but it wouldn’t tell me where the real one was. Reasonably certain I wouldn’t really have eaten its heart. Too gamey for my taste. That said, going two days without food may have made the statement more truthful than I thought. Scared it into visibility nonetheless. So we dispatched the gnomes, that weird elf finishing them before they could be properly interrogated. There’s really a time and a place for mercy, if it pays, but I really didn’t have the patience.

Anyhow, no sooner had the final gnome hit the dirt when the objective comes into sight, being held captive by some gnome in poncy clothes. Now, obviously this is a situation that merits restraint. I let the others do the talking for the most part. Well, until one of them started shouting about fire, that really riled the gnome. Then, of all things, the pink human shoots at him, even though the girl was right in front of him. Good thing it was a good shot, or no-one would be getting any reward. Still, the gnome buggered off soon enough anyway so I guess it worked.

Now all I have to do is stick with the girl until I get my share of the reward, and make sure that bloody pink human doesn’t kill her along the way. Something bugs me about that one. It doesn’t move enough, just sits still like a statue. Eh, it’ll only be a couple days, and who knows, perhaps her father will commission a bodyguard. Shar knows I could use a steady job.

Gnomes, Wolves and FIIIIIIIIIIRE!!!
DM's Log

Hey guys! This is basically the first DM log that covers most of the basics of your adventure so far. You’ll have to forgive my grammar, I’m hardly a master wordsmith, but hopefully this will at least assist you in writing your own adventure logs through the eyes of your characters (See the excellent first player log by Keddir below) or just remind you about what has occurred so far.

The adventure began in Anderscrest Village where most of our adventurers were currently situated for their various reasons. To start off the game players rolled a History check to see what they knew about the village. As a result of this, Dante ended up suffering from a severe case of amnesia(Troy rolled a 1, I usually won’t be this cruel when you guys make a lousy roll but it was the player’s suggestion and it amused me so we went along with it) while Daryos, who was travelling with Dante, managed to recall a tale of the great Gareth Anderson, hero and founder of the village who wielded an amazing blade that covered his foes in frost with each blow. It was also established that Daryos and Dante were travelling together and at some point Daryos had stolen a ring from his halfling companion.

While wandering around in the middle of town Torak, Dante and Daryos watched on as 7 of the town’s guard stumbled into the village, heavily bloodied with several of them near death. Torak, being the Cleric of the village, quickly rushed to their aid and patched them up as best he could. He then escorted them into the manor of Baron Eric Anderson, current ruler of the village. There it was revealed to Torak that Eric had sent 20 of the towns guard (which was only composed of 30 or so men and women) out to the east where a group of bandits were holding his daughter, Sylvia, hostage in the woods to the east. Eyes filled with despair, Eric pleaded with Torak to gather a group of adventurers to save her, as he simply could not meet the bandits demands for the ransom. Torak quickly gained the allegiance of Daryos and Dante who had been standing outside the manor trying to investigate what was going on and the trio set forth in search of more help. They questioned some of the nearby villagers soon discovered that a Deva had been seen around town and was apparently staying in one of the villages two inns. Attempting to gain the Deva’s aid (who turned out to be named Ansis) started off quite poorly for the group when he caught Daryos trying to pick his pockets. A bar fight was narrowly avoided as Turok explained their situation and promised Ansis that there would be gold in it for him if he helped them and at this Ansis joined the group. Being late the adventurers decided that they would spend the night in Eric’s manor, where they would question the guards and rest up before setting forth on their quest. Much to his displeasure, this also meant that Ansis was bombarded with questions about his past from the knowledge seeking Eric, all of which he refused to answer. From questioning the guards the adventurers determined that the bandits forces were composed of no less than 10 men, but they were undeterred and set forth to rescue the Baron’s daughter.

Daryos snuck ahead of the others and noticed something quite bizarre upon his arrival at the scene. The bodies of bandits littered the ground, small crossbow bolts sticking from their backs and Sylvia sat tied to a tree stump seemingly quite distressed, with tears streaming down her face. The only two surviving bandits ran towards the small bridge on which the rest of the party now stood, clearly wishing only to flee, but were promptly knocked out by the party for later questioning. Meanwhile, Daryos was scanning the area for an indication as to what had happened to the guards and managed to spot gnomes hiding in several of the nearby bushes. Warning his companions of this, they were soon attacked and the party’s first encounter begun. The battle began fairly poorly for the adventurers, who managed to land few blows but take many. The situation took a turn for the dire when a small red drake jumped out of seemingly nowhere took hold of Dante and flew off, Daryos running after it, shurikens in hand. Fortunately this whole affair was observed by Kedirr who had been travelling along the road not far away and quickly joined in on the battle. Shortly thereafter a strange burst of bright light and magic erupted from the middle of the field to reveal a rather surprised looking Eladrin woman. Regaining her composure with shocking efficiency she quickly surveyed the situation and she too joined the fight striking the nearest gnome with an impressively damaging magic missile. The battle continued, though with difficulty at points as the gnomes seemed to be incredibly adept at hiding disappearing from view after every blow that was dealt to them. Trying to determine where the gnomes were hiding Garethona (the Eladrin woman) tried to detect any nearby magic and instead discovered a strange aura coming from the tied up girl; she did not alert the others of this. Towards the end of the fight Ansis and Torak decided it was important to release Sylvia from her bonds; little did they know (because SOMEONE didn’t warn them) this was not in fact Sylvia Anderson but a complex arcane trap. As they loosened the bonds the “little girl” exploded in a burst of blue flames, knocking Ansis and Torak to the ground. After the last of the gnomes the party had seen were slain two small figures appeared, the real Sylvia held with a knife to her throat by yet another gnome, this one dressed in colourful robes. Some negotiation with the Gnome ensued. Garethona determined through a history roll that determined these gnomes were once part of a small secluded tribe of gnomes who had recently lost their homes due to a fire in the woods. She then whispered this information to those nearby so that it could be carefully and delicately used to their advantage. Torak clearly not quite understanding this tried to start talking to the gnome, struggled to find the words he was looking for then simply yelled out “FIIIIIIRE!!!”. This result in an attack from the gnome, but fortunately a powerful well aimed blast of magic from Ansis caused him to immediately flee from the sight, letting the girl go.

After the battle most of the party then quickly ran to aid Daryos in saving Dante (except for Ansis who decided to stay back and interrogate the bandits). They successfully slew the drake (accompanied by the energetic Sylvia who threw rocks at it) and then after taking a short break, set off back towards Anderscrest Village.

Shortly before arriving back at the village they were attacked by a small pack of wild wolves. Through a series of meat offerings and high nature roles Garethona managed to tame one of them wolves (Still unnamed as far as I’m aware) while the rest of the party (“aided” by Sylvia) slew another and Kedirr scared the other one off with a blast of his acidic dragon’s breath.

Commission 26- Part 2

Everybody seemed to want to follow the halfling that had been dragged off by the flying red lizard. Bad business in my opinion, just means less gold for the rest of us. But they stubbornly pressed on, and I didn’t particularly feel like trying to wrest the girl from them. The pink human stayed behind to keep an eye on some bandits who’d also come across the gnomes. Not sure I trust him, but better him far away than right behind me. We catch up at the base of a small cliff to see this lizard thing dragging itself pathetically along the ground, one wing leaking blood. The weird elf girl teleports closer, moving to surround it, thought that was a good move. Well, the halfling seemed in a bad way, and if I have to bloody rescue the thing may as well do a proper job of it. Told him to stop his whining and get off his tiny rear. Perked him right up, that did.

The lizard finally got itself in order and beat it up the cliff. The elf man who’d been looking so smug when we arrived tried out his sling on it. Wasn’t smiling after that attempt, I can tell you. The human, some sort of religious type obviously, stood around mumbling some sort of prayer. Some use he was. Better than the blasted elf girl, though. Don’t know if she’s stupid, or just a weak-willed milksop, but she just stood around yapping about retraining it or some krart’hek like that. Putting my hammer through its ribcage put paid to that shortly enough. I wasn’t about to help her after that display, but the human came and prayed over her for a bit.

The girl seems spirited enough. The elves started chirping among themselves in their own language. Meanwhile the male one is climbed a tree. I wonder if they share some sort of illness. That would explain the strange eyes and how addled they both seem to be. Especially the male. Some stupid thing he said provoked the girl into throwing a rock at him. Somehow he had the bright idea of trying to catch it, and got a rock to the face for his troubles. Turns out the girl’s name is Sylvia, and she’s the daughter of the bigshot I’m delivering this letter to. Well, two birds with one stone, and all that.

Eventually everybody got themselves into some sort of order and we headed back to town. There’s always something, isn’t there? Passing by a rocky outcropping three strange animals attacked us, after making some bloody loud racket. They looked like what the softlanders call ‘rabbits’ with their gray fur and big teeth. After a bit of rummaging, the elf girl puts some of her own food down for one of the rabbits, cooing and clucking like a babe-addled mother. The other one, the male, just sat down. One of the rabbits sprang off the rock, teeth bared, before planting its face squarely in the ground. One of the other ones rushes out and gobbles up the elf girl’s rations, so the halfling puts more out.

Now, amidst all this fraternizing with animals no-one really seemed to be paying attention to the main source of income. I stayed back to keep a hold of the girl, and good thing too. The little vulog tried to match wits with me, but I kept hold of her easily enough. One of the rabbits bit the she-elf, and then things got interesting. The human shouted some prayer and promptly set his hair alight. What is it with these softlanders? I joined in the fray and soon the rabbits were all dead, barring the one that the elf girl was wooing. Sylvia picked up a stone and did her part. She’s got stones, that one has. More than the elf girl, that’s for sure.

We were cleaning up when the pink human caught us up with dust on his boots. Not a word about the bandits, guess he put ‘em down and didn’t want to offend their sensibilities. That she-elf in particular. Likely she would have protested the necessity of slitting the scum’s throats. Not that it mattered in the end, while she was hugging her precious rabbit she just upped and disappeared like a gnome, taking the blasted thin with her. Didn’t come back, either. Well, didn’t seem to be any point in waiting around, so we went ahead and delivered the girl back to her father, despite the dirty looks she gave us after. The priest went off spouting about healing wounded guards or the like. Anderson was suitably grateful for the return of his daughter, handing over a hefty sack of coins. Looks to be a few hundred in gold, and that’s about a hundred times more than what I’d get for any hek delivery, so I’m sitting pretty. Still, got my fifty silver for the letter. Only a bloody fool turns their nose up at money, no matter how much. The pink human had the bright idea of asking for more money, but obviously he didn’t wheedle well enough for it to work. The others elected to give me the gold for safekeeping. Doesn’t bother me. I’ll make sure they get their fair share, and if they turn on me or die, well, that’s just more gold for the rest of us, isn’t it?

Commission 27

Anderson introduces this human Drake to us, and says he’s got more money for us if we provide an escort to some tomb. Apparently he wants this Drake guy to pick up a sword of his to help with the goblin raids in the area. Anderson says that if Drake is lost, Anderscrest goes with him, hence the escort mission. Anderson seems to have a high opinion of the pink human, giving him a magical compass. During lunch I pressed this Drake for free supplies for the journey. Got to milk employers for all they’re worth, after all. He didn’t want to give up much, until the pink human, Ansis I think, leaned on him with his influence over Anderson. Got 3 days rations and a torch for each of us. The weird elf man seemed to be having difficulties, bit his tongue and then had to sit down and rest like a lus’lal.

The elf man, Daryos, proved he had at least a little worth later on, though, when he used his pathfinding ability in the forest to give us a quicker route than straight bashing through the undergrowth, as Ansis was making us do. Soon enough we reached a cliff face, probably about fifty foot. I climbed up first, along with Daryos, the halfling below squealing about something or other. Didn’t take long before we were at the top, and seems that the elf can tie a knot! Wasn’t long before we were all at the top, although Drake seemed to have some difficulty. Likely because he wasn’t bloody smart enough to take his plate off before trying to climb a cliff. I knew a trick or two about overland, so I led the way after that, until we finally got to the crypt.

The iron gate into the crypt was glowing, and Ansis told us that it was an Arcane Lock, some ritual that binds a door only to open to a certain key. He also said that it wasn’t particularly well made. Daryos picked the lock quickly enough, and we all tramped down a spiral staircase. He also managed to spot the 50 foot pit trap in the floor, saving someone a bloody nasty surprise. After a bit of fiddling we fix a rope to the ceiling and swing across, although the halfling and Ansis barely made it. A rat scurried from the pit and told Drake that the trials of the crypt are a test and a message to future generations of Andersons. I don’t give a flying hek about that, but at least we learned that there are some sort of magical turrets later on. Ansis and Daryos find a magical panel and get to work, eventually disarming whatever traps the rest of the crypt had in store for us. There were some broken crossbows in the next room, and the halfling managed to scavenge some interesting bolts from them. Put them with the gold, might find a use for them later on. Seemed like a dead end, but Daryos and Ansis pulled their weight again, finding and opening the secret door in record time. Could’ve used entrymen like that back in Endaeron.

Opening the door dimmed the lights somehow, and there was a softlander standing on the sarcophagus holding some sword. Obviously someone’d beaten us to the punch, and he was a nasty hek’tar as well. Not only did he raise some corpses for us to fight, but he threw some wall of sound that buggered Ansis and I right up, before streaking out like he was shot from a crossbow. Not only that, but that bloody hekface Drake pushed the others into the room and slammed the door behind us, trapping us all in there. Took a bit of doing, but we managed to put the corpses back down soon enough. Not much to do now except look for a way out of this bloody mess. Seems like the perfect opportunity to attack the town, while it’s still weak from raids and we’re holed up in this tomb. Especially now that Drake has the sword, and has shown himself to be working with corpse-raisers. Still, we have the compass to guide us to that bastard, once we get out.
